Description

This is a vintage Chinese reverse glass painted snuff bottle featuring a delicate mountain landscape, calligraphy, and a pale jadeite stopper with a bone spoon. Popularized in China from the late 19th century through the 20th century, originally designed to hold powdered tobacco. 

The calligraphy inscription on the bottle is a traditional dedicatory text that includes a seasonal date, location, the recipient's name, and the artist's signature. It translates to, "In the autumn months of the Jiawu year, painted at the gates of the Capital (Beijing). For the elegant appreciation of my esteemed elder uncle, Luheng. Painted by Sun Xingwu."
This snuff bottle is in good condition with wear consistent with its age and use.
