Description

This is a pair of Chinese silver vases featuring intricate embossed plum blossom hammered onto the body which are classic motifs of the period, symbolizing perseverance, hope, and the renewal of spring.

The base of one vase features the “LW” maker’s markwhich stands for Luen Wo, an exceptionally prominent retail silversmith active in Shanghai and Canton from approximately 1865 to 1920. He was one of the premier purveyors of Chinese Export Silver. The workshop frequently produced high-quality, heavily embossed hollowware for Western markets during the late Qing Dynasty. The second vase is unmarked.

Both vases are in good condition with wear consistent with age and use with no major dents or flaws.
