This is a Japanese Hirado porcelain bowl. This piece features several hallmarks of high quality Hirado ware: •Sometsuke-delicate hand painted floral designs in underglaze cobalt on bright white body. •Reticulation- the distinctive pierced areas near the rim, showcasing the fine modeling techniques that the Hirado kilns were famous for. •Scalloped, decorative edge finished with a thin iron-oxide wash.
